Thembi Duncan teaches Drama Lab I & II and has directed King James and Sanctuary City at the D’Youville Kavinoky Theatre. With over 25 years of experience as a director, playwright, actor, and teaching artist in Washington D.C. and WNY, Thembi uses theatre as a tool to explore the complexities and intersections of racial and gender identities in America.
Thembi has taught in the University at Buffalo’s Theatre and Arts Management programs and serves as a guest lecturer in the Theatre program at Howard University. She has also held strategic roles at Shea’s Performing Arts Center, Young Playwrights’ Theater, Ford’s Theatre, and African Continuum Theatre Company.
Thembi holds a B.A. in Theatre, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Maryland and an M.S. in Instructional Design and Educational Technology from SUNY Potsdam. Learn more about her work at thembiduncan.com.
